PAMI – Mental health support for refugees in reception centres

The project provided mental health support services, crisis support, groups and service counselling to children, young people and families in the refugee reception system.

The project provided mental health support services, crisis support, groups and service counselling to children, young people and families in the refugee reception system

  • The work was carried out at the outpatient clinic of the Centre for Psychotraumatology in Helsinki, in reception centres and in organisations working with Ukrainian refugees, as well as through digital media.
  • The multidisciplinary team provided acute crisis care and assesses the need for other types of mental health services and makes health care referrals when necessary.
  • The service was free of charge for clients.
  • Project staff trained and advise professionals working with asylum seekers and persons in need of temporary protection.
