Our projects work boldly for human dignity

In projects, we develop solutions to societal challenges and defend the conditions for a dignified life.

Projects at Deaconess Foundation

Part of the Deaconess Foundation’s non-profit activities is carried out through projects. In 2026, projects take place both in different parts of Finland and abroad. There are about 100 projects running at a time.

In our work, we encounter young people seeking their own path, unhoused people, substance users, traumatized individuals, undocumented people, and others marginalized from society. Our goal is to build a society with inclusice safety nets so that people always receive the support they need. Trust, inclusion, and agency are strengthened at the individual, community, and societal levels; empathy and hope increase, and confrontation decreases.

Projects are funded both by the Deaconess Foundation from its other operations and assets, as well as external project funders. The largest external funders of activities are the Funding Centre for Social Welfare and Health Organisations (STEA), the European Social Fund (ESF), and the City of Helsinki.
