Roma Feminist Power for Change: A Call for Solidarity 26.9.
What does intersectional feminism mean in practice, and what does it look like from the perspective of Roma women and communities? In this interactive workshop, the feminist Roma organization E-Romnja invites participants to reflect on how change happens and how we can contribute to it.

Time: Saturday, September 26, 12:00-13:30
Location: Merisali, Lapinlahden Lähde, Lapinlahdenpolku 8, Helsinki
Together, we will explore how power, privilege, and structures of inequality shape everyday life, and how they can be challenged collectively. Through short presentations, discussion, and participatory exercises, participants will be encouraged to translate intersectionality into practical action. At the heart of the workshop are the experiences, knowledge, and voices of Romanian Roma women.
The aim is for participants to leave with both inspiration and concrete tools that they can apply in their own communities, activism, and everyday lives.
We will also hear short contributions from E-Romnja’s Finnish partners, Emmaus Helsinki and the Deaconess Foundation, who will share their perspectives on the importance of solidarity within the Finnish context and through co-operating with Roma feminists.
The event will be held in English.
This event is part of the Finnish Social Forum, which will take place at Lapinlahden Lähde in Helsinki on 26-27 September 2026.
