Vamos Rovaniemi Strengthens Support for Young People Through Continued Partnership with BRP in the Fight Against Bullying

“The effects of bullying do not end when young people leave the school hallways. That is why preventing bullying and supporting recovery are essential to strengthening young people’s well-being. We have been working together with BRP since 2023 to address bullying, and this collaboration is now being further strengthened through a new sponsorship partnership. We share similar values and a common commitment to supporting those in the most vulnerable positions. BRP’s support for our work with young people is extremely important. Through this partnership, we can make a direct impact on young people’s well-being. The most significant changes we see are increased trust and hope, improvements in mental health, and progress in employment and education. Through Vamos coaching, young people gain confidence and develop a stronger belief in their future,” says Minna Kestilä, Director of Vamos Rovaniemi.

Building a Better Tomorrow Together

All Vamos activities follow the principles of a safer space. A safer space is created through equal and respectful encounters and interactions between people. Experiences of bullying can make it more difficult for young people to plan their future, pursue studies, or enter working life. The fear of continued bullying often prevents them from moving forward.

In Vamos small-group activities, young people are given a safe environment where they can openly share even their most difficult experiences. The trauma caused by bullying gradually begins to heal when experiences can be discussed in a safe and confidential setting. At the same time, young people are given opportunities to experience success and build self-confidence. At Vamos Rovaniemi, peer support plays an important role. The organization’s peer coach supports young people by drawing on lived experience. Their personal experiences encourage young people to talk about bullying and process their own experiences. Young people are supported in expressing their experiences and transforming them into strengths.
